Positions

President
Executive
The President is responsible for the overall unity and consistency of the organization. They provide oversight, advice, and assistance to all aspects of the organization - from the executive level to the general volunteer & member level. Matters pertaining to the organization as a whole, collaboration with external groups, or communication with the administration generally involve the President in addition to other individuals.
You may want to get in touch when you need advice, support, or simply a helping hand for whatever task you face.
Secretary
Executive
The Secretary is responsible for facilitating administrative aspects of the organization including meetings. This individual also acts as a resource for executives and directors looking for information about anything relating to administrative matters, resources available to us as a club, or logistics including and beyond events. Room bookings go through the Secretary.
You may want to get in touch when you need to book rooms or get help with logistics, to get tips on best organizational practices, to find out when the executives may be meeting, or if google just doesn’t know.
VP Communications
Executive
The Vice President of Communications is responsible for the image of the MSA. This includes supervising the website management and development and managing the various social media outlets of the MSA, including Facebook, Twitter and the email newsletter. They coordinate and assist with the activities of the directors within the communications portfolio, which are related to social media, website management, photography and publications. They respond to inquiries received by the MSA and forward these to the appropriate people. The VP of Communications also approves all press releases and advertisements.

Webmaster
Directorship
The webmaster is responsible for keeping the website up to date and helping out other committees with their websites when needed.











The Muslim Voice Magazine (TMV)
Editor-in-Chief 
The Muslim Voice Magazine is a platform for the voices of the Muslim student community. It is an outlet for creative expression, intellectual dialogue, and thought. The TMV Editor-in-Chief is responsible for managing the TMV team of writers, editors, and designers who work together to create multiple publications throughout the year. 
Digital Media

Graphic Design

A team of creative individuals here to make our events speak to you through design. To boldly go where no graphic has gone before.

Marketing
Directorship

The marketing director is responsible for developing and implementing a social media strategy across all social media platforms for the MSA

VP External
Executive
The role of VP External is to implement and strengthen our relationships with other student clubs within the University of Toronto, with fellow Muslim based groups and organizations, and with the broader community. The VP External acts as a representative for the MSA in external functions and portrays the MSA in a positive manner. They facilitate the work of the Academic Affairs and Outreach directorships, two that are expected to benefit the Muslim community within U of T and the broader communities we are a part of. Additionally, the VP External facilitates the work of Alumni Affairs and the maintenance of the MSA Alumni Society database. Community collaboration efforts are initiatives the VP External should be involved in and proactive about.​

Academic Affairs

A team that hosts academic events, provides mentorship opportunities, and provides academic advice and networking opportunities to Muslims on campus​

Alumni Affairs
Directorship
team that hosts and fosters relationships with MSA alumni through networking and community events. This connection between current and past students helps create a vast network for Muslims on campus to use.

Outreach
Directorship
he Outreach directorship reaches out to the Muslim and non-Muslim community to foster discussion and awareness about Islam and Muslims. Outreach directors are in charge of hosting Islamic Awareness Week to engage with Muslims and non-Muslims on campus and Charity Week to raise funds to support Muslims around the world. ​

VP Finance
Executive
The Vice President Finance is responsible for all financial matters of the club. They are the go-to person when considering expenses for all MSA endeavours. The VP Finance must be consulted in budget planning and is responsible for giving reimbursements. They oversee the management of the Accounts Director to create financial reports, Corporate Relations Director for finding sponsors and donors, and the Orphan Sponsorship Program via the OSP President.
You may want to get in touch when preparing the budget and before even thinking of making a purchase, and after making an approved purchase to get your reimbursement.
Accounts
Directorship

The Accounts director records the day to day financial transactions, ensures that all information is tabulated correctly, and assists the VP Finance in preparing financial reports every trimester for the club.​





Cooperate Relations

Directorship
The Corporate Relations team seeks out sponsorships and donations for the MSA as alternative forms of funding by creating and maintaining relations with local businesses and organizations.






Orphan Sponsorship Program (OSP)
President
The Orphan Sponsorship Program was founded in 2003. It’s goal is to raise awareness about the plight of orphans and raise funds to provide for their basic necessities including food, shelter, clothing and education so that one day these children can grow up to contribute to the development and success of their own communities. The Orphan Sponsorship Program President manages the OSP team and facilitates the connection with the MSA through working with the VP Finance. ​

VP Internal
Executive
The Vice President Internal oversees our quality religious education programming on campus such as halaqas, lectures, and seminars. They manage the Religious Education and Religious Services team which work to provide basic religious services on campus such as organizing Jumu'ah prayers, maintaining prayer spaces, and ensuring that Halal food options are available on campus.

Religious Education
Directorship

Religious Education focuses on enhancing students’ knowledge about Islam as well as providing more information to those who wish to learn more about it. Islamic education paired with students’ degrees gives context for application of both sources of knowledge.



Religious Services
Directorship

Religious Services is responsible for the coordination of daily and Friday prayers, the use of prayer spaces, and specific religious Muslim needs on campus.







VP Social Advancement
Executive
The Vice President Social Advancement oversees activities and projects that relate to social justice initiatives ranging from the local to the global scale through the Community Education and Action and the Global Education and Action Directors, respectively. They are educated on social justice issues and can direct you to resources to learn more, such as through the Humans of the Ummah team. They also help to manage the MSA’s efforts for sustainability on our campus with the Environmental Advocacy team. Their teams may connect with other organizations that do social justice or equity work on and off-campus.​

Community Education and Action
Directorship
This directorship upholds the Islamic teachings of community servitude by educating the student body about local social justice issues through active volunteerism and collaborating with other campus groups of similar goals.


Environmental Advocacy
Directorship
This directorship focuses on sustainability, preservation, and conservation. It promotes the importance environmental consciousness within the broader community.

Global Education and Action

Directorship
This directorship aims to bring students closer to issues occurring globally through its events and initiatives such as documentary screenings, workshops, panel discussions, humanitarian dinners and art exhibitions. Their goal is to help educate the student body and advocate for global causes where possible.​
Humans of the Ummah
Directorship
‘Humans of the Ummah’ is a platform created by the MSA to shed light on Muslim based news and topics that are often overlooked in the mainstream media. This director manages a team that creates informative posts about relevant social issues impacting the Muslim community on our platforms. These shed light on social injustices affecting Muslims worldwide and include the appropriate resources to confront these issues.

VP Student Life
Executive
The Vice President Student Life oversees committees that work to build social connections among members. These include work to put together smaller regular events by the Brothers’ Events and Sisters’ Events directorships, and less frequent major events that are coordinated by the Special Events director and committee. This role is a key part in building and strengthening our community on campus and creating an open space where everyone feels welcome.

Directorship

The Special Events Directors are responsible for organizing our major events throughout the school year which can include MSA Frosh Week, the Welcome Dinner, Destress Week, the Farewell Dinner, and more. ​

Brothers' Events
Directorship

The Brothers’ Events Director seeks to provide opportunities for our male audience to participate together in activities, discussions, and more in a social setting. These can include opportunities for sports, food, and other fun activities. These events help members stay connected with like minded individuals and build lasting friendships together.​
Sisters' Events
Directorship

The Sisters Events’ Director seeks to provide opportunities for our female audience to participate together in activities, discussions, and more in a social setting. These can include opportunities to create, reflect, be active, and more. These events help members stay connected with like minded individuals and build lasting friendships together.​
