After many months of dedicated hard work by many people over the past year and a half, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Amjad Tarsin as full time Muslims Chaplain at the University of Toronto. Amjad was chosen from a pool of over 20 applicants.

We want to extend a warm welcome to Amjad into our campus and to the University of Toronto family. We pray that this initiative which was once a dream of establishing Canada’s first full-time Muslims Chaplaincy Organization continues to flourish and grow into many more beautiful projects. The Muslim Chaplaincy office is located in Emanuel College Room 016. Services are scheduled to begin October 1st.

A little bit about Amjad:
Amjad was born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to Libyan parents. Growing up, Amjad spent a portion of his childhood and youth

visiting and living in various countries around the world. He obtained his Bachelors of Arts at the University of Michigan in English Literature and Islamic Studies. It was during his

university years that Amjad developed a deeper connection to his faith, studying the Islamic sciences with teachers locally and internationally, and became actively involved in community service and interfaith work.

After spending a transformative year abroad, he returned to America to start his studies at University of Michigan Law School. Yearning to fulfill his calling to community building and service, Amjad quit law school after two years and enrolled in Hartford Seminary’s Masters in Islamic Chaplaincy program. While completing his degree, Amjad worked as a part-time Muslim Chaplain at Fairfield University, Connecticut.
