MSA Scholarship Program
The Muslim Students’ Association at the University of Toronto, with the support Muslim community organizations, will be awarding three scholarships varying in value from $500 to $1500. The scholarship is open to all* returning full- time students at the University of Toronto St. George. Students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, or professional programs will be considered equally, according to eligibility criteria that can be found below. *Exceptions: students sitting on the Scholarship Selection Committee, family members of such individuals and current MSA Executives on thescholarship committee.
SCHOLARSHIPS
ICNA Scholarship – 1 award of $1500
Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) Relief Canada will be sponsoring one scholarship valued at $1500 for the 2009-10 academic school year.
This scholarship will be awarded to a student pursuing his/ her studies in the field of: Journalism, Political Science, Social or Islamic Studies at the University of Toronto.
UM Financial Scholarship- 1 award of $500
United Muslim (UM) Financial will be sponsoring one scholarship valued at $500 for the 2009-10 academic school year. This Scholarship will be awarded to students pursing studies in any field* at the University of Toronto.
MSA- 1 award of $500
The UofT (St. George) MSA will award one scholarship valued at $500. This scholarship is open to students in all fields.
General Criteria:
The scholarships will be awarded based on the following general criteria, as well as more specific criteria tailored to each scholarship:
- Leadership within and beyond the MSA and the Muslim community on campus
- Academic merit
Application Package- a completed application form
- a sealed copy of your academic transcript (the transcript must be ordered and NOT printed from ROSI)
- one letter of recommendation (1 page maximum) from a group or individual in the position to verify statements of community involvement
- one copy of most current Curriculum Vitae
- one 250- word essay detailing why the applicant feels he/ she deserves the scholarship, as well as the impact of winning.
All applications are due at the MSA office by July 1st, 2010
- applicants should note that transcripts take about three days after ordering to arrive
