MSA Blood Drive
MSA will be hosting its third and last Blood Drive for this school year, insha’Allah. The event will take place at the CBS clinic (67 College Street) on March 25th, from 12:00pm to 7:00pm. Just one blood donation can save up to 3 lives! So if you weren’t able to donate previously, here’s your chance! This is an open event; anyone 17 years of age and up can donate, so invite all your friends and let’s make this the biggest Blood Drive yet! Please register for an appointment time

It will also make it easier if you provide your phone number and date of birth (must be 17+ years of age).
Requirement’s for donor’s eligibility:
- Will need to provide identification with full name and signature, or full name and photograph.
- Must be between 17 to 71 years of age.
- Should be in good health, feeling well on the day of donation.
- Must have had something to eat and adequate sleep prior to donating.
- Weigh at least 50kg (110 lbs)
Before your appointment:
- Please drink plenty of fluids and eat well before donation.
- The entire process (above) for a whole blood donation takes about one hour. If the donor is not eligible (please see requirements below) to donate blood a Canadian Blood Services employee will explain that a temporary or permanent deferral is necessary and the process will end.
Here’s how the process works:
Step 1 – Welcome and Registration:
- Donor is registered
- Donor’s hemoglobin (iron) is tested
- Donor is asked to read a pamphlet on blood donation
- Donor must complete an eligibility questionnaire
Step 2 – Screening:
- In a private and confidential setting, a nurse asks a number of questions to determine the donor’s eligibility
- Donor’s blood pressure, pulse and temperature are measured
Step 3 – Blood Donation:
- Blood donation takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes
- After the donation, the donor rests for 5 to 10 minutes
Step 4 – Hospitality and Refreshments:
- Canadian Blood Services’ volunteers are on hand to inform donors of blood system news and answer questions about ongoing programs – they also direct questions to appropriate
staff members
- Donors are served donors food and beverages
- Volunteers thank donors and encourage them to come back again
